―――初めに担当教科を教えてください。
金岡 数学です。
―――講師歴はどれぐらいになりますか。
金岡 長いですよ。２５年以上になりますね。
―――確かに長いですね。
金岡 大学を出てすぐに私立高校の教師をやっていたんです。
それをやめてからは新宿セミナーでずっとやっています。
―――ご出身はどちらですか。
金岡 立川です。近いでしょ？
―――ほんとですね。どんな高校生でしたか。
金岡 ほかの先生と同じく、部活命でした。中学はサッカーを
やっていましたが、高校ではアイスホッケーをやりました。
―――都内でアイスホッケーのクラブがある高校があったんですね。
金岡 はい。非常に珍しかったですね。１回か２回勝てばインターハイに
いけましたよ（笑）。でも勉強もがんばってました。
―――少ないとそうなりますよね。ということは、今もスケートはやって
らっしゃいますか。
金岡 いえ、今はヨットが趣味です。
―――セレブな遊びの代表じゃないですかー（驚）。
金岡 そんな風に思われがちですが、小さいヨットですから
維持費もかからないんですよ。セレブからはほど遠いです（笑）。
―――外洋に行かれたことはありますか。
金岡 もちろんあります。一番遠いことろでは大島の先にある「式根島」まで
行きました。横浜から１００キロぐらいのところにあります。
―――今一つ遠さがわかりませんが・・・
金岡 ヨットの時速が１０キロぐらいなので、１０時間以上かかりました。
―――そんなにかかったんですか？命の危険とかなかったんですか。
金岡 その時ではありませんが、ヨットを遠くに出すときは天気図を見て決めるんですが、一度
天候の読みが甘くて死にかけたことがあります。すごい大きな波にかぶられて
危うく死ぬところでした。
―――へー、まさに生き死にの趣味ですね。最後に数学の勉強法を教えてください。
金岡 やっぱり量をやらないとだめです。センスも必要ですが、手を動かすことを
嫌がらずに量をこなすことはとても大事です。「数学的センスがないから」と
あきらめずに学校の数ⅠAの教科書をやってください。
それから、わからない問題に当ったら参考書で解決しようとせず
先生に聞きに行くことです。それが一番早いです。
ヨットを趣味に横浜から海に出る金岡先生は、講師歴も長く
